Currie, Townsend Sweep Men's Swimming And Diving Weekly Awards

NEWARK, Del. - Gavin Currie and Philip Townsend of Delaware's swimming and diving program both received CAA weekly honors on Nov. 15, 2022 after leading the Blue Hens to victories over La Salle and Rider on Friday.Â
Currie posted a pair of first-place finishes and a second-place effort in Delaware's victories over La Salle and Rider last Friday. The sophomore captured the 200 back with a time of 1:50.45 and finished second in the 100 back with a time of 50.62, a season-best. Both times rank among the top six in the CAA this season. He was also a member of Delaware's 400 medley relay team that set a pool record with a time of 3:20.42, which is the second-fastest in the conference this season.
Townsend recorded a pair of second-place finishes against La Salle and Rider. The sophomore posted a score of 275.30 on the 3-meter board and had a score of 247.0 in the 1-meter competition.
Delaware has won CAA Diver of the Week in all four weeks of competition so far this season, and has won CAA Swimmer of the Week in back-to-back weeks after Dylan Smolders received the honor last week. They are back in action at the Bison Invitational from Nov. 18-Nov. 20 in Lewisburg, Penn.Â
