Mason Named CAA Offensive Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Delaware volleyball senior outside hitter Lani Mason was recognized as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Offensive Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 31-Nov. 6, announced Monday afternoon by league officials. This is Mason's fourth time receiving top offensive player honors this season.
Mason led Delaware to an undefeated week (2-0) by averaging 6.00 kills, 2.70 digs and swinging at a rate of .235 in 10 sets played. The Chester, Va. native opened the weekend at William & Mary (Nov. 5) with a 30-kill and 17-dig performance in Delaware's five-set victory. In the CAA road finale against the Tribe (Nov. 6), Mason put together another 30-kill showing to go along with 10 digs to post her 14th double-double on the season. She added three blocks and two aces to her stat line. This is the first time this season Mason tallied back-to-back 30-kill performances and its the fifth time this season she registered 30+ kills.
On the season, Mason averages 5.62 points, 5.14 kills and 2.75 digs in 93 sets played. She leads the conference kills (478), kills per set, points (522.5) and points per set. Mason ranks among the national leaders in total kills (3rd), kills per set (5th), points per set (6th), points (6th) and attacks per set (12th, 12.09) total attacks (19th, 1,124) as of Nov. 6.
WHAT'S NEXT
Mason and the Blue Hens return to campus on Wednesday, Nov. 9 to close out the regular-season against Chicago State. The home finale is slated for a 6 p.m. start inside Bob Carpenter Center.
