Field Hockey Preview: NCAA Tournament Opening Round against Lehigh

NEWARK, Del. – Delaware field hockey (9-11) is set to play Lehigh (13-7) in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Wednesday, November 9 at 2 p.m. in Chapel Hill, N.C. at Karen Shelton Stadium at the University of North Carolina.
The winner of Wednesday's game plays top-seed North Carolina on Friday at noon.

The Blue Hens won their fourth straight Colonial Athletics Association conference tournament championship after defeating Drexel 6-1 on Sunday at Rullo Stadium.
Senior Ashlyn Carr was named the CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Performer and was joined by teammates Julia Duffhuis, Grace Hoepfner, and Kiki Oudshoorn on the All-Tournament Team.
Carr scored two goals and added four assists in the CAA Tournament. Duffhuis scored four goals, including a hat trick against Northeastern, and added one assist. Hoepfner and Oudshoorn both scored goals in the CAA Tournament Championship game.
UD had six different goal scorers in the CAA Championship game against Drexel.
The Blue Hens have played some of their best offense down the stretch of the season. They've scored 19 goals over the last four games, including 12 goals in two CAA Tournament games.
Wednesday's game will be the first time the Blue Hens and Mountain Hawks played each other since September 8, 1999. This will be the 23rd all-time match between the Blue Hens and Mountain Hawks. Delaware has won the last seven matches in the series.
Lehigh won the Patriot League for the first time since 1994 and will make its NCAA Tournament debut.
