Smolders, Siegfried Earn Men's Swimming And Diving Weekly CAA Awards

NEWARK, Del. - Dylan Smolders and Kevin Siegfried both earned weekly CAA Awards after helping lead Delaware's men's swimming and diving team to a victory over William & Mary over the weekend, as announced by the conference on Nov. 8, 2022.Â
Smolders was named CAA Swimmer of the Week after placed first in the 500 free and 1000 free. The freshman had a time of 9:37.96 in the 1000, which was the ninth fastest in program history and the third best in the CAA this season. His winning time of 4:37.70 in the 500 also ranks third in the conference this season. Smolders became the first Delaware student-athlete to be named CAA Men's Swimmer of the Week so far this season.
Siegfried earned his third Men's Diver of the Week honor after posting a pair of first-place finishes with NCAA Zone cut performances against William & Mary. He recorded personal-best scores on both boards, compiling 347.70 points to capture the 3-meter competition and 314.18 points to take first place in the 1-meter competition. Siegfried becomes the first student-athlete to be named CAA Diver of the Week three times in a single-season since Will Canny of Towson (five times) and Kolbein Bjugan of UNCW (four times) during the 2019-2020 season.Â
Seigfried and Smolders will compete against La Salle and Rider on Nov. 11 in Philadelphia, Penn.
