Volleyball Match Preview: Chicago State

NEWARK, Del. – The regular-season finale is here and it is set inside friendly confines of the Bob Carpenter Center. The University of Delaware volleyball team welcomes Chicago State on Wednesday, Nov. 9 for its home finale slated for a 6 p.m. start.

What You Need to Know:
- This will be the second time Delaware and Chicago State will be meeting in program history, with the Cougars holding the 1-0 all-time record. This will also be the first time the Blue Hens will be hosting the Cougars in Newark.
- The Blue Hens will look to use the momentum from last weekend's matches to show out in front of the home crowd for the last time this year. The last time the Blue & Gold was out was at William & Mary where Delaware prevailed in back-to-back five set thrillers (Nov. 5-6) to close out conference play.
- The last time Delaware and Chicago State met was during the 2018 season where the Cougars claimed the straight sets victory at the FIU Invitational in Miami, Fla.
- Lani Mason had back-to-back 30-kill performances against the Tribe where she took home CAA Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday for the fourth time this season. It was Mason's fifth time this season that she registered 30+ kills.
- Chicago State traveled to Ames, Iowa on Nov. 1 where they faced Iowa State and fell in straight-sets to the Cyclones.
- With the CAA play wrapping up this weekend, Delaware is currently sitting in fourth place awaiting seeding for the upcoming CAA tournament.
- The statline at William & Mary (Sunday): Mason finished with 30 kills to go along with 10 digs to post her 14th double-double of the season. Savannah Seemans (14 digs, three blocks), Kirah Johnson (seven blocks) and Lauryn Richardson followed with nine kills apiece. Ezgi Basaranlar was tasked out to direct the Blue Hen offense with 50 assists and added nine digs and five blocks to her stat line. Eileen Gex and Amelia Painter anchored the Blue Hen defense with 22 and 16 digs, respectively.
- Among the national leaders, Mason ranks third in total kills (478), fifth in kills per set (5.14), sixth in points (522.5) and points per set (5.62), 12th in attacks per set (12.09) and 19th in total attacks (1,124). Lily Rogers ranks 16th in triple doubles (1).
