Softball Adds Six on National Signing Day

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware softball team added six newcomers to the program on Wednesday as part of National Signing Day. The six student-athletes, who will join the Blue Hens as members of the Delaware Class of 2027, hail from five different states and play a variety of positions.
Gianna Costaro
First Base
Bellmore, N.Y. / John F. Kennedy
Two-time all-county selection while playing for John F. Kennedy High School … Named her squad’s MVP as a senior as well as earning the Scholar-Athlete Award … Also a member of the basketball team, earned all-conference honors in 2022 … Father, Robert, played football at Sacred Heart (1992-96) … In the classroom, was a member of the National Honor Society.

Three-year starter and two-time captain at Caravel Academy … Named First Team All-State as a shortstop as both a sophomore and a junior … Helped lead Caravel to a 40-5 record and back-to-back state championships in 2021 and 2022 … In the classroom, was an honor roll student and a member of the National Honor Society.

Four-year starter and two-time captain at Midlothian High School … Named to all-region third team and all-metro honorable mention as a junior … Earned first team all-region, second team all-state and second team all-metro honors as a senior … Helped lead Midlothian to a runner-up regional finish in 2021 … Also a four-year starter and two-time captain of the basketball team.
