NEWARK, Del. – Delaware women's lacrosse will play eight home games at Tubby Raymond Field to highlight their 2023 schedule, beginning on Feb. 10.
Â
The Blue Hens open the season with a four-game homestand beginning with Lehigh before playing Lafayette on Feb. 15, Temple on Feb. 22, and Old Dominion on Feb. 25 to wrap up the season's first month. Combined, Delaware holds a 73-44 advantage all-time over their first four opponents, including last season's 11-10 victory over #18 ranked Temple on March 11 which was led by a four-assist performance from reigning CAA Rookie of the year Delaney McDaniel and a four-goal game by Lizzie Hsu.Â
Â
Delaware begins March with their first road game of the year when they play UMBC, the Blue Hens' first trip to Baltimore to play the Retrievers since 2011. Delaware will welcome Georgetown to Newark on March 4, then head out west to play Niagara and Denver on March 11 and 13. This will be Delaware's first-ever meeting against Niagara, while also being their first game against Denver since 2013. Denver finished the 2022 season as the No. 11 nationally-ranked team, and won their third consecutive Big East regular-season title and second straight Big East conference tournament. Â
Â
After the Blue Hens' trip to Colorado, they open up CAA play on the road against Stony Brook on March 18. Stony Brook, who won nine consecutive American East regular season titles before joining the CAA this season, finished last season ranked fifth nationally and lost to eventual champions North Carolina in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. Delaware then plays their first CAA home game of the season, when they welcome in new conference-foe Monmouth on March 25 to finish the month off.
Â
Three of Delaware's first four games in April begin on the road, starting with William & Mary on April 1 and Hofstra on April 8. Delaware returns home against Drexel, the reigning CAA Tournament Champions, on April 15. Their final road game comes against Elon on April 22, where Hsu helped lead the Blue Hens to a victory a season ago with five goals. Their final regular season game of the season comes against reigning CAA regular-season champion Towson on April 29.Â
Â
Tickets are now available for all games in the 2023 season. Fans can purchase season ticket packages of three or more games, as well as individual game tickets. The Stadium Club in the Whitney Athletic Center will be open for select games this season. The specific games will be announced at a later date.
