NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware softball team has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2023 season. The Blue Hens will play a challenging 52-game slate that includes two Power 5 Conference opponents as well as seven contests against teams that reached the 2022 NCAA Championship. The Blue & Gold will play 21 home games at Delaware Stadium, including 12 against CAA opponents.
The Blue Hens will open the season the weekend of February 10-11 by traveling to the first of four tournaments, heading south to the 2023 Bearkat Classic at Sam Houston State. Delaware will take on Northwestern State and UTSA, sandwiched around a pair of contests against the host Bearkats.
For the second-straight year, UD will play at an SEC opponent when the Blue Hens travel to the University of South Carolina for the Carolina Classic February 17-18. The weekend will open with a game against Western Kentucky before a showdown against the Gamecocks. It will be the first of two games against Power 5 opponents on the season for the Blue Hens, who defeated two such opponents last year. Delaware will also play Campbell and George Washington in Columbia.
