Grant, Robinson Named to Tewaaraton Award Watch List

WASHINGTON, DC – Delaware men's lacrosse standouts, Owen Grant and Mike Robinson, have been named to the 2022 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, announced Thursday by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
Grant, the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and Preseason All-CAA team member, is in his senior season with the Blue Hens. After earning numerous preseason honors, Grant opened the season with a team-high three groundballs in the win over NJIT. During the 2021 campaign, Grant set the single-season UD record for caused turnovers with 26 and led the CAA and ranked third nationally in caused turnovers per game (2.36). He registered 42 ground balls, and four points on three goals and an assist last season.
Robinson was named the CAA Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. In the Blue Hens' season debut, Robinson scored six goals and added three assists in the win. The third-ever CAA Rookie of the Year was fourth in the CAA in total points with 51 last year. He finished fifth in the CAA and 24th in Division I in points per game (4.25). Robinson registered a CAA-best 43 goals scored. He led the CAA and ranked third nationally in goals per game (3.58), and had eight assists along with 45 ground balls and three caused turnovers.
The lists include the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlight the early contenders for the 2022 Tewaaraton Award.
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
Players not named to this initial list will have opportunities to play their way into a spot as the season progresses. Watch list additions will be announced on March 11 and April 1, before the field will be narrowed to 25 men's and 25 women's nominees on April 21. Nominees can be players from the watch lists or not from the watch lists, effectively allowing for a third round of additions.
Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced in early May. The Tewaaraton Award recipients will be chosen after the conclusion of the collegiate lacrosse season.
