Women’s Tennis Preview: Villanova & Navy

» The Delaware women's tennis team plays its first home matches of the 2021 season this weekend when it hosts Villanova and Navy for a pair of nonconference contests in Wilmington. The Blue Hens will take on the Wildcats on Friday at 12 p.m. at Delcastle Tennis Center, while Sunday's match against the Midshipmen will start at 3 p.m. at DuPont Country Club.

» The Blue & Gold are 2-1 in dual matches this season and coming off a 5-2 victory over George Washington on January 28. Delaware swept all three doubles matches and Eliza Askarova, Samantha Svendsen, Isabella Montana and Dominika Sujova all won their singles matches.

» Askarova and Sujoova were named the CAA Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week for their win at the No. 1 doubles position. Playing together for the first time, the duo helped Delaware earn the doubles point with a 6-2 victory.

» Villanova enters Friday's match with an 0-2 record this spring. The Wildcats dropped road matches in January, falling 4-3 at Bucknell and 6-1 at Navy.

» The Midshipmen have cruised to six-straight victories to open the spring season, all coming at home. Navy has defeated Saint Francis (Pa.), Villanova and Georgetown all by 6-1 scores, while securing 7-0 sweeps of St. Bonaventure, Morgan State and Saint Joseph's.
