NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware softball left-handed pitcher Graceyn Frost has been named the CAA Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. The award recognizes Frost's efforts in Delaware's 3-1 season-opening weekend at the Stetson Lead-Off Tournament.
Frost fired 10.0 innings in two appearances, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out nine. She posted a 1-0 record with one save and a 0.70 ERA. The Newark, Del. native stepped into the circle for her first collegiate start and made an immediate impact throwing a complete game, allowing just two hits and one earned run while striking out eight in a 3-1 win over Stetson. She retired the first 13 batters that she faced and carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning. The southpaw entered the circle in relief against Georgia State, pitching the final 3.0 innings in UD's 4-1 victory for her first career save as she allowed just a pair of hits and recorded one strikeout.
Delaware will return to action next weekend when the squad travels to Georgia for the Red and Black Showcase. The Blue Hens will play both Purdue and Boston University twice and will play a contest against the host Bulldogs.
