Black History Month Spotlight: Trinity Tapper

NEWARK, Del. – In honor of Black History Month, Delaware Athletics will spotlight several Blue Hen student-athletes. Trinity Tapper, a member of the Delaware track & field team, sat down with UD athletics to share why celebrating Black History Month is important and what motivates her to be successful.
Tapper, a native of North Andover, Mass., joined the track & field squad in 2019 as a sprinter and jumper, and is a member of the 4x100-meter relay team that placed second at the 2021 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Outdoor Championship. A standout in the classroom, Tapper has earned multiple Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll accolades, while majoring in exercise science.
When asked, "What does Black History Month mean to you?" Tapper replied simply, "I appreciate and understand the meaning and intent behind Black History Month, however I am someone who appreciates everything that is being emphasized during this month throughout the whole year. While it is important to appreciate black culture during this month, it is just as important to carry the learning and continue to educate regardless of whatever month it is."
