Dickey Selected as a Semifinalist for the 2022 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award

The Becky Hammon Award was first given out in 2020, with South Dakota's Ciara Duffy being named the inaugural winner. FGCU's Kierstan Bell won the award in 2021. This year's semifinalists include representatives from 10 schools and 10 conferences.
Earlier this month (Feb. 9), Dickey was one of the 10 small forwards named to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) watch list for the 2022 Cheryl Miller Award. Four days prior to that (Feb. 5), Dickey watched her name be added to the Dawn Staley Award Late Season watch list. Prior to the start of the 2021-22 campaign, she also was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Preseason Player of the Year.
The Baltimore, Md. native has not disappointed this season, including leading the nation in points per game for seven-straight weeks (Nov. 29-Jan. 10). Now ranked third in the nation in points per game with 25.3, she is also averaging 9.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 40.3 percent (208-of-516) from the field and 81.9 percent (149-of-182) from the charity stripe.
Dickey has put together a string of historic performances including most recently pouring 76 points in consecutive games, the third-highest mark in program history. She exploded for a career-high mark of 52 points and tied her career-high 18 rebounds (10 offensive) against Charleston (Feb. 4). The 52-point performance set a new Bob Carpenter Center record and sits comfortably in history books second in points scored in a single game. She became the first player to record 52 points and 18 rebounds against a NCAA DI opponent since 2009-10 and is the only player in NCAA DI to post a 40+ and 50+ point performance this season. Dickey's career evening landed her a spot on ESPN SportsCenter Top 10 plays in the #10 slot.
Another one of Dickey's notable performances this season was when she poured in a second career-best 48 points against Eastern Michigan (Nov. 26), which now moves that mark to third in the program history books in points scored in a single game. She eclipsed Elena Delle Donne's 42 points scored at Hofstra back on Feb. 16, 2012 and her career afternoon landed her a spot on ESPN Sportcenter Top 10 plays as the Bonus #1 play.
This season, Dickey has posted one 50-plus, one 40-plus and five 30-plus point game (three consecutive) performances. She has 12 double-doubles on the season and has been named CAA Player of the Week four times and United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Ann Meyers Drysdale Women's National once. Dickey ranks among the top 10 national leaders in field goal attempts (2nd), free throws made (2nd), points per game (3rd), free throw attempts (4th), final points (5th, 583) and field goals made (7th).

Award Eligibility & Schedule
To be eligible for this award, players must compete in one of the 26 conferences deemed to be "mid-major." The following conferences are considered high-major for the purposes of this award, and thus ineligible: ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12, and SEC. In October, 25 players were named to the preseason watch list. The 15-player midseason watch list was announced in January, and the five finalists will be announced in early March. The winner will be announced around the Final Four. The list is fluid and players may play their way on or off the list over the course of the season.
About Becky Hammon
Hammon was a three-time All-American during her career at Colorado State and led the Rams to the Sweet 16 in 1999, the program's only appearance to date. She was signed by the New York Liberty in 1999 and traded to the San Antonio Stars in 2007, where she played the rest of her career. Hammon retired in 2014 as a six-time All-Star and a two-time All-WNBA First Team honoree. In 2016 she was named one of the top 20 players in WNBA history and was recently named to the W25. Hammon became the second female coach in NBA history when she began coaching for the San Antonio Spurs in 2014. Additionally, Hammon is the only woman to be a head coach in the NBA Summer League as well as the only woman to be a member of an NBA All-Star coaching staff. Currently, Hammon is the head coach of the Las Vegas Aces.
