Sunday’s Game Against NC State Canceled

RALEIGH, N.C. – The University of Delaware softball team's Sunday game against NC State has been canceled due to weather and field conditions. The cancellation means that UD finishes its weekend at the NC State Invitational with a 3-1 record and currently sit at 8-5 overall on the season.
The Blue Hens dropped the weekend opener 6-5 to Bowling Green, but rebounded in a big way with a five-inning 17-3 victory over Central Connecticut State on Friday evening. Delaware got its revenge on the Falcons on Saturday afternoon with a 5-3 win before concluding the weekend with an impressive 12-4 win over NC State, snapping the Wolfpack's nine-game winning streak. The victory was UD's second over a Power Five opponent in the past two weekends.
The Blue & Gold was impressive on offense, scoring 39 runs over the four games on 10 home runs and 17 total extra-base hits. Hanna Garber and Grace Hrustich each hit three home runs, while Garber batted .625 along with two doubles, two triples and eight RBI. Emily Winburn pitched in all four games, going 2-0 with 16 strikeouts and a 2.15 ERA in 13.0 innings.
Delaware will return to action next weekend the squad travels to Florida for the FAU 'Parent's Weekend' Tournament. The Blue Hens will play two games against both SIUE and Florida Atlantic as well as a single matchup against Illinois State.
