Women’s Tennis Preview: Hofstra & Georgetown

» The No. 73 Delaware women's tennis team plays its first home matches as a ranked program this season when it hosts Hofstra and Georgetown this weekend. The Blue Hens will take on their first CAA opponent on Friday afternoon when they play Hofstra in a 12 p.m. match at the Delcastle Tennis Center. The Blue & Gold will then return to the courts on Sunday at 3 p.m. for a contest against Georgetown at DuPont Country Club.

» The Blue & Gold currently sit at 8-2 on the season in dual matches and moved up to No. 73 in the ITA Collegiate Tennis Division I Women's Team Rankings after road victories at Duquesne (4-0) and Big 12-foe West Virginia (4-3) last weekend. It is the third-consecutive week that UD has been ranked in the top 75.

» On Wednesday, Dominika Sujova and Alina Vasilenko were named the CAA Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week. The duo went 2-0 at No. 2 doubles to help then-No. 74 Delaware earn the doubles point against both Duquesne and West Virginia last week, winning both matches by 6-3 scores.

» Hofstra is 1-3 on the season and is coming off a 4-2 victory over Marist almost two weeks ago. The Pride and Blue Hens have played one common opponent as the Blue & Gold swept LIU 7-0 in February, while Hofstra fell to the Sharks 4-0.

» Georgetown is 3-9 on the season but comes into Sunday's contest on a three-match winnings streak. The Hoyas most recently defeated CAA opponent Drexel 4-2 on Wednesday and also played at James Madison back in January, falling 7-0.
