CHARLESTON, S.C. – The University of Delaware men's tennis team won its third-straight match, coming away with a resounding 6-1 victory over Charleston in a CAA matchup on Tuesday. With the win, the Blue Hens improve to 8-8 on the season and are now 2-0 against conference opponents.

"This is a very solid win for our men today and I'm so proud of the way we kept our composure and played with confidence," said Director of Tennis Pablo Montana. "We have some momentum right now and this is encouraging as we continue finishing up our spring break matches."

The Blue & Gold started fast, winning the double point with two-straight victories to open the match. Pascal Wagemaker and Guilherme Valdoleiros claimed a 6-2 win at the No. 2 position before James Wilkinson and Pierce Gilheany clinched the point with a 6-4 win at No. 1.

Alexandre Gluck kept things rolling with a quick 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 4 singles to put UD up 2-0. After the Cougars got on the board with a win at No. 5, Luis Molina regained momentum for the Blue Hens with a 6-2, 6-3 win over his opponent at No. 3.

Wilkinson clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1 before Wagemaker and Valdoleiros closed out the contest with long, grueling three-set victories at No. 2 and No. 6, respectively.

The Blue Hens will wrap up their Spring Break trip to South Carolina with a Wednesday matchup at The Citadel. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m. The match was originally scheduled for Thursday morning, but was moved up to Wednesday due to an inclement weather forecast.
