Capparell Takes Home CAA Track Athlete of the Week Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – After putting together a record-setting performance this season, senior Tina Capparell was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Track Athlete of the Week, announced Tuesday afternoon by league officials.
The Hazelton, Pa. native headlined the 3000m Steeplechase for the Blue Hens at the Larry Ellis Invite Friday (Apr. 15). Capparell set a new school record after running a personal best time of 10:31.97, which was good enough for fifth place at the invitational. Her new mark surpassed teammate Susanna Weir's 2021 mark of 10:33.26.
Capparell's mark now sits second in the conference, 39th in the NCAA East Region and is a top 80 mark nationally.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Blue Hens will return to action Friday for a two-day meet (Apr. 22-23) at the Virginia Challenge, hosted by UVA. UD will then head to Baltimore, Md. to compete at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational, hosted by Johns Hopkins University on Saturday (Apr. 23).
