Blue Hens Fourth After First Day of CAA Championship

SAINT HELENA ISLAND, S.C. – The Delaware men's golf team fired a 293 score during Sunday's opening round of the Colonial Athletic Association Championship to end the day in fourth place.
Charleston leads the eight-team field with a 281 score, followed by UNCW at 283, Drexel at 290, and the Blue Hens.
Roberto Nieves carded a two under par 70 on the par 72, 6,787-yard Dataw Island Cotton Dike Course and is tied for seventh place among individuals. He birdied the seventh, 14th and 18th holes while making just one bogey on Sunday. Nieves is three shots back of Drexel's Griffin Mitchell, who leads the tournament at five under par.
Sparky Ariyachatvakin and Egor Zubov each recorded a one over par 73 and are tied for 16th place at the championship. Ariyachatvakin carded three birdies during the round, while Zubov added two.
Michal Bargenda is tied for 29th place with a five over par 77, while Jack Halleron is tied for 36th place with a six over par 78.
The second round of the three-day tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, with the Blue Hens starting their round at 9:42 a.m.
