Roberto Nieves Fires 77 on First Day of NCAA New Haven Regional

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Blue Hen senior Roberto Nieves fired a seven over par 77 during Monday's opening round of the NCAA New Haven Regional.
Nieves carded a 39 on the front nine and a 38 on the back nine on the par 70, 6,409-yard Yale Golf Course to finish the day in 72nd place among individuals. His lone birdie came on the 15th hole, while he added 11 pars on the afternoon.
Piercen Hunt of Illinois leads the field with a six under par 64, while five players are one shot back. Wake Forest and North Florida are tied for first place in the team standings with 267 scores.
The second round of the three-day regional will take place on Tuesday.
