Four Blue Hens Earn NFCA All-Region Selection

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware softball team had four student-athletes named to the 2022 NFCA All-Northeast Region Teams, as announced by the organization on Thursday. The four selections are the most in one season in program history, surpassing the three selections in 1999, 2000 and 2021.
Hanna Garber was selected to the All-Northeast Region First Team for the second-straight year. Emily Winburn also earned her second-consecutive all-region selection as she was named to the second team after being a third-team member last year. She was joined on the second team by Graceyn Frost while Halle Kisamore was recognized on the third team.
Hanna Garber, 3b – NFCA All-Northeast Region First Team
Garber put together one of the best seasons in Delaware history, earning All-CAA First Team honors as well as being named the CAA Defensive Player of the Year. The senior led the Blue Hens with a .359 batting average and 23 extra-base hits, including eight home runs, 10 doubles and a team-high five triples. On the base paths, Garber stole 16 bases and she led the CAA with 48 runs scored. The Lancaster, Pennsylvania native becomes Delaware's first CAA Defensive Player of the Year in her first season at third base after playing the last three seasons in the outfield. She committed just three errors on the season while starting all 45 games and handling 129 chances.
Emily Winburn, P – NFCA All-Northeast Region Second Team
Winburn was also an All-CAA First team selection after a stellar junior campaign. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida native registered a 13-9 record with a 2.72 ERA in a team-high 30 appearances this season. She struck out 112 batters in 131.1 innings and held opponents to a .231 batting average. In 22 starts, Winburn fired eight complete games, including a shutout over Elon in the CAA Championship that earned her a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Graceyn Frost, P – NFCA All-Northeast Region Second Team
Frost enjoyed a tremendous first season with the Blue & Gold, earning All-CAA Second Team and CAA All-Rookie team selections. She put together a 13-5 record while posting a 2.84 ERA. She made 27 appearances in the circle with 16 starts, striking out 100 batters in 113.1 innings. She picked up three nonconference victories over Power Five opponents with strong performances against Purdue, NC State and Penn State and she went 6-2 in 10 appearances in CAA play.
Halle Kisamore, C – NFCA All-Northeast Region Third Team
Kisamore had an outstanding senior season, tying for the team lead with 12 doubles while ranking third on the Blue Hens with a .321 batting average. She was also tied for third on the squad with five home runs and 27 RBI. Kisamore, who had nine multi-hit performances, opened the season with a nine-game hitting streak and closed the season with hits in seven of UD's final eight contests. The Reading, Pennsylvania native had three doubles and two runs scored in the CAA Championship as she was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Delaware finished the 2022 season with a 29-16 overall record and went 11-4 in conference play, winning the program's first-ever CAA Regular Season Championship. Garber was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Year, the first Blue Hen to win the award, and Head Coach Jen Steele was selected as the CAA Coach of the Year while a league-high five Blue Hens earned All-CAA honors.
