Roberto Nieves capped off his outstanding career while the Blue Hens won a pair of tournament titles that highlighted the 2021-22 UD men’s golf season. Delaware placed among the top five teams in five tournaments, including titles at the Golfweek Fall Challenge and ODU Outer Banks Intercollegiate. The Blue Hens won multiple invitationals for the first time since the 2010-11 season. UD’s 834 score at the Golfweek Fall Challenge set a three-round program record, beating the previous mark by 14 strokes. The Blue Hens’ final round 270 is the second lowest single round total in Blue Hen history.

Delaware then fired an 839 score at ODU, the second lowest 54-hole score in program history, to close out the fall campaign with its second title. The Blue Hens recorded a pair of fifth place finishes during the spring, including the CAA Championship. UD’s 73.72 team average round is the lowest in the history of the program.

Nieves concluded his record-breaking career by collecting first team All-CAA honors for the second straight year and earning an at large berth to the NCAA New Haven Regional. He broke his own program record by averaging 70.58 shots per round, and now has the three lowest single season totals in program history. Nieves posted seven top-five finishes on the year, and was the Wildcat Fall Invitational individual champion. A four-time CAA Men's Golfer of the Week recipient, he was the Blue Hens' low finisher eight times. Sixteen of Nieves's rounds this season were in the 60's, doubling the previous record of eight set by himself in 2019-20 and Justin Martinson in 2009-10. Nieves holds the five lowest three-round totals in UD history, while his 71.71 career average round is also a program record.

Sparky Ariyachatvakin was also impressive during his first season in Newark, competing in all 11 tournaments while ranking second on the team with a 72.03 average round. Ariyachatvakin finished second at the Wildcat Spring Invitational, and carded a seven under par 206 at the Bash at the Beach tournament. Michal Bargenda was the third Blue Hen to compete in every invitational, ranking third on the team with a 73.77 stroke average. Hugo Kedzlie, who carded an eight under par at the Golfweek Fall Challenge including a final round 65 which is tied for the third lowest in UD history, was fourth on the squad by averaging 75.48 shots per round.
