NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation Chrissi Rawak has announced a contract extension through the 2025 season for women's lacrosse head coach Amy Altig.
"We are excited to extend Coach Altig's contract and have her continue to lead our women's lacrosse program," said Rawak. "Amy and her staff have done a tremendous job building a positive culture and leading the team back to the CAA tournament - the future is bright under Amy's leadership!"
This past season, Altig guided the Blue Hens to their first Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Tournament appearance since 2018. On the national scene, Altig helped coach Team USA to a gold medal victory this past July.
"My staff and I are very grateful for the confidence that Chrissi and her staff have in us and our program. This program is incredibly special, and we feel fortunate to be able to continue to strive for greatness as Blue Hens. We are proud of the foundation we have created, and we are excited to continue to grow the success of our team. A big thank you to our support staff and assistant coaches for all the work they put in to ensure an amazing holistic experience for our student-athletes."
During the 2022 season, the women's lacrosse program had one CAA Rookie of the Year, one IWLCA Senior All-Star, two All-CAA Honorees, and two CAA All-Tournament Team Selections.
