Sometimes in life, you embark on an opportunity that makes a memorable impact on your life. For Delaware men's lacrosse volunteer coach Pape Lukk, 2022 did just that.Â
Â
He joined the Blue Hens last fall and was an integral part of Delaware's Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) co-Regular Season title and Tournament Championship.Â
Â
Lukk, who is leaving Delaware to take a full-time position elsewhere, has nothing but great things to say about his time in Newark.
Â
"My experience with the men's lacrosse team at Delaware was an absolute dream come true," said Lukk. "I grew up attending Delaware lacrosse camps and watching games from the stands of Delaware Stadium. To have the ability to follow in my grandfather Pape's footsteps and work with the quality of person the University of Delaware provides was an awe-inspiring experience and one I will not soon forget.
Â
"The men of Delaware Lacrosse wholeheartedly believe in something bigger than themselves and truly embody the notion of 'Well done is better than well said.' Coach Ben DeLuca, Coach Matt Rewkowski, Coach Trey Wilkes, Sammi Shivock as well as all the members of the support staff are top-notch people who have made an indelible mark on my life. I couldn't be more proud of what we were able to able accomplish under Coach DeLuca and the leadership of our captains this past season."
Â
During Lukk's time in Newark, he took away many lessons that will last a lifetime.Â
Â
"I have learned so many invaluable lessons during my time working with Coach DeLuca, Coach Rewkowski and Coach Wilkes. The most impactful lesson that I've learned is to always do the next right thing, which is something that I believe applies to all aspects of life and is not exclusive to the game of lacrosse," Lukk said. "By doing the next right thing, you don't relegate yourself to live in the past and can stay in the moment to accomplish what needs to be done for the betterment of not only yourself but also the people around you. I will continue to carry this lesson with me throughout my life."
Â
Thank you and good luck Pape!
