NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware men's lacrosse head coach Ben DeLuca has announced the promotion of Matt Rewkowski to Associate Head Coach.
"Matt has been involved in every aspect of our program's development over the past five years and his efforts have been instrumental to our success here at Delaware," said DeLuca. "Matt has demonstrated impeccable character, a tireless work ethic and an uncommon commitment to the growth and development of our student-athletes on and off of the field. This recognition is very well-deserved, and I would like to thank President Assanis and Chrissi Rawak for providing the support to our program necessary for a promotion like this. Matt's passion, knowledge and energy have had a tremendous impact on everyone associated with our program, and we're excited to continue the momentum we have created as we begin the 2022-2023 season."
Rewkowski has been with the men's lacrosse program since 2017. Working with the offense, Rewkowski has played an integral role in the Blue Hens success that has led to Delaware posting back-to-back 10-win seasons and being one of the top lacrosse programs in the country.
"I'm incredibly grateful to Coach DeLuca for the opportunity to come to the University of Delaware and represent the proud tradition that is Fightin' Blue Hens Lacrosse," said Rewkowski. "It is a great privilege to work with the players on our team and I'm excited for the future of our program!"
The Blue Hens are coming off back-to-back Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) regular season titles after winning a share of the trophy in 2022. Delaware captured the CAA Tournament championship and earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament. Last season, Delaware won a pair of postseason games and advanced to the quarterfinals of the tournament for the first time since 2007. Rewkowski played a key role in the Blue Hens ending the season ranked No. 11 in the Inside Lacrosse Poll.
