Three Blue Hens Were Selected in the First Round of the NLL Draft

NEWARK, Del. – Delaware men's lacrosse players Owen Grant, Tye Kurtz and Jake Govett were selected in the first round of the National Lacrosse League draft on Saturday.
The 2022 draft marked the first time the Blue Hens had multiple first round picks in the NLL draft.
Headlining the draft was Grant, the reigning two-time Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Defensive Player of the Year, who was selected third overall by the Vancouver Warriors. This past season, Grant appeared and started in 19 matches, scored seven goals and added three assists. He earned Inside Lacrosse Second Team All-America accolades and received USILA All-America recognition this past season.
Grant is the highest drafted Blue Hen since Curtis Dickson, who was selected third overall back in the 2010 draft, and Jordan Hall, who was the first overall pick back in 2007.
With the 17th pick in the draft, the Albany FireWolves drafted attacker Tye Kurtz. Kurtz appeared and started in 17 matches. He was second on the Blue Hens in goals with 52, assists with 15 and points with 67. He was a 2021 Second Team All-CAA honoree and the 2019 CAA Rookie of the Year.
The third Blue Hen drafted in the first round was attacker Jake Govett, selected 22nd overall by the San Diego Seals. He appeared in 20 matches in his Blue Hens career.
