Mason Tabbed As CAA Offensive Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – For the second-straight week, the University of Delaware volleyball senior outside hitter Lani Mason was named as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Offensive Player of the Week for matches played September 12-18, announced Monday afternoon by league officials.
Mason led Delaware to another undefeated week (2-0) by averaging 6.75 kills, 2.25 digs and swinging at a rate of .310 in eight sets played. In the Blue Hens conference opener against Northeastern (Sept. 17), the Chester, Va. native finished with 19 kills and eight digs in the straight-sets win. She closed out the weekend with a career-best 35 kills to go along with 10 digs to post her fourth double-double of the season in Delaware's thrilling five-set victory over the Huskies (Sept. 18). Mason's 35-kill performance is a new program-best, surpassing 34 kills set by Renee Duflon (1979 vs. Southern Connecticut) and Maria Bellinger (Oct. 7, 2018 at Elon) and is a five-set season-high in the conference and NCAA this season.
On the season, Mason averages 5.47 points, 5.89 kills and 2.42 digs in 38 sets played. She leads the conference in points, kills (208) and kills per set and ranks among the conference leaders in points (224). Among the national leaders, Mason ranks second in kills per set, fifth in points per set and seventh in total kills.

Mason and the Blue Hens will open their four-game road trip this weekend when they travel to Hampton, Va. and face new CAA foe Hampton in a weekend series Saturday, Sept. 24 and Sunday, Sept. 25. Both matches are slated for a 2 p.m. start inside Holland Hall.
