Women’s Golf Finishes Third, Khokhlova Claims Medalist Honors at Lady Blue Hen Invitational

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – The University of Delaware women's golf team's Alisa Khokhlova fired a 2-under par 70 on Sunday to win the individual title of the 10th annual Lady Blue Hen Invitational, finishing one stroke ahead of teammate Oihana Etxezarreta. The Blue Hens entered the final day with a two-stroke lead but finished third in the team standings with a three-round score of 23-over par 887 (299-291-297).

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Blue Hens turned in sub-300 scores each round, led by a 3-over par 291 during Saturday's second round that propelled the hosts into first place in the team standings.
After a 1-over par in the first round, Khokhlova carded a 1-under par in the second round to sit in a tie atop the leaderboard. She went 2-under par on Sunday to clinch the win.
Etxezarreta, playing as an individual, started off incredibly strong with a 5-under par 67 in the opening round. She was tied with Khokhlova entering the final day of play and turned in a 1-under par to finish second.
Malosh turned in her second top-10 performance of the season as she was 1-over par after the first two rounds.
Carroll and Clausen combined for 11 birdies and an eagle over their three rounds.

UP NEXT
The Blue Hens wrap up the fall portion of their schedule as they travel to the Bahamas next weekend for the White Sands Invitational. The three-day tournament will be played at the Ocean Club Golf Course on Atlantis Paradise Island.
