Whitfield-Moss Named CAA Rookie Of The Week

RICHMOND, Va. - University of Delaware's Gha'Naye Whitfield-Moss was named CAA Rookie of the Week after helping the Blue Hens to a weekend sweep of Hofstra, as announced by the conference on Oct. 23.Â
Whitfield-Moss recorded 11 kills and nine blocks in two wins over Hofstra, which extended Delaware's win streak to seven games and helped them keep pace at the top of the conference standings. She had eight kills and five blocks during Saturday's win, which saw Delaware overcome a 2-0 set deficit to win in five. During Sunday's game, she had four more blocks and chipped in three kills to help Delaware win in three sets. Whitfield-Moss' defensive presence helped hold Hofstra to a .147 hitting percentage in the two games. Her nine total blocks were tied for the second most among CAA players during the weekend.Â
Whitfield-Moss has 50 kills and 27 blocks in 29 sets played this season. She has started in every game during Delaware's seven game win streak, her first seven starts of her career. This is Delaware's fourth CAA weekly award of the season, as Kirah Johnson was named Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 16 and Asia Murray earned Co-Rookie of the Week honors on August 28 and Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 4.Â
Delaware hits the road to play UNCW in Wilmington, N.C. on Oct 28 and Oct. 29.Â
