NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware field hockey team topped Penn Sunday afternoon 4-3 in a back-and-forth contest at home in Rullo Stadium.
COACH'S QUOTE"A great team-win today as we celebrated our seniors, Berber Bakermans, Julia Duffhuis, Kiki Oudshoorn and graduate student Anna-Rose Gabbitass. A true team effort with so many different people contributing to our victory over Penn," said head coach Rolf van de Kerkhof after Delaware's win on Sunday. "It was another fight and one the Blue Hens were determined to win by adding more to their improved and more consistent performance in recent weeks. In addition, we were able to make the two dozen of our program's alumnae in attendance proud of our game and celebrated all they have done and continue to do as Blue Hen alumnae," van de Kerkhof continued. "As a program - players and coaches - we would like to thank all our support staff, families, parents, fans, donors, fellow Blue Hen student-athletes and the Blue Hen community for all their support throughout our 2023 season. We look forward to returning stronger next season and compete for championships in the CAA and represent the University of Delaware in the NCAA Tournament. Thank you Blue Hen Nation!"
