Men’s Basketball Moves to 3-0 After Hard Fought Win Against Air Force, 65-57

NEWARK, Del. – After a second-half comeback from the visitors, the University of Delaware men's basketball team ripped off a late run to secure the 65-57 victory on Sunday over Air Force.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Jyáre Davis led the Hens with 21 points and tied for a team-best seven rebounds. He went 6-for-11 from the field and 8-for-9 at the line.
- Jalun Trent and Tyler Houser each tallied 11 points.
- Christian Ray corralled seven rebounds to tie with Davis.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Delaware scored the first seven points of the game before holding a 7-2 lead at the first media stoppage with 14:41 left in the initial frame. The Hens continued to outpace its opposition, pushing the margin to 23-12 with 5:14 on the clock. It was a defensive battle the rest of the way, before Cavan Reilly hit a three as the half expired to put the Hens up, 29-19.
- Air Force cut into the deficit with a 9-2 margin to make it a four-point game with just under 17 minutes to play. The Falcons clawed their way back using a 9-of-10 shooting stretch to even things up at 39 apiece, which forced a timeout by Delaware with 12:23 remaining. After a lot of back-and-forth, the Hens pulled ahead by seven after a 12-5 run over 4:23. UD would hold steady the rest of the way to close out the win.
GAME NOTES
- With his first bucket of the game, Ray hit the 800-point mark for his career. This comes one game after reaching the 800 rebound milestone.
- Davis also reached that 800 career points threshold today after tallying three points.
- The 19 points surrendered in the first half are the least amount allowed by the Hens in any half this season.
- Delaware moves to 3-0 for the second time under Martin Ingelsby after starting 9-0 in 2019-20.
