NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware Director of Golf Programs Patty Post has announced that Brendon Post has been promoted to the position of head coach of the men's golf team. Post, who has coached with the Blue Hens since 2011, will take the reins of the men's program as they head into the 2024 spring season.
"I am extremely excited for the future of our golf programs," Patty Post said. "Brendon has committed more than a decade to our golf teams and provided our players with an extreme level of golf knowledge and passion for the game. His commitment to our player's athletic development, academic success and the recruitment of future Blue Hens is top-notch. Having a dedicated head coach and assistant coach for each team is a huge win and will provide our players with the best experience while at the University of Delaware."
"Brendon has done a fantastic job with all of our golfers and has earned this promotion," Director of Athletics, Community, and Campus Recreation Chrissi Rawak said. "I'm appreciative of his commitment to UD and excited for the impact he will continue to make. Being able to have two head coaches and two full-time assistant coaches is important for our golf programs to compete for championships and give our student-athletes the best experience possible."
Post has been a member of the Delaware coaching staff since the 2011-12 season, the inaugural season for the women's program. He began working with both the men's and women's programs during the 2017-18 season and was promoted to his current title of associate head coach and director of player development in September 2020.
He has helped lead the Delaware women's golf program to great success on the course, including winning the 2016 and 2017 CAA Championships. The Blue & Gold has had plenty of individual success as six Blue Hens have earned all-conference honors, including two CAA Rookie of the Year awards, and Andi Slane won consecutive CAA Championship individual titles in 2015 and 2016.
On the men's side, Post has helped lead a resurgence in the program as the Blue Hens have had multiple team victories and several top-10 finishes. Under his leadership, the Blue Hens have set program records for an 18-hole team round (267 at the Loyola Intercollegiate) and a 36-hole team score (561 at the 2019 Villanova Spring Invitational). Additionally, the 2019-20 squad set a school record with a 74.21 team stroke average. Roberto Nieves set several individual Delaware records and Casper Nerpin was named the 2022 CAA Rookie of the Year.
Prior to coming to Delaware, Post worked alongside Patty as the assistant women's golf coach at Georgetown. He has served as a PGA director of instruction with the Clubgolf Performance Center since 2004 and has more than 20 years of teaching experience. Post has also served as Director of Golf at Fair Oaks Golf Park and has worked as an assistant golf professional at Admirals Cove (Jupiter, Fla.), Columbine Country Club (Littleton, Colo.) and Cliffside Country Club (Simsbury, Conn.).
Post spent two years playing professionally before turning his attention to teaching and coaching. As a club professional, he has qualified for the PGA Professional Championship eight times, one Senior PGA Professional Championship as well as two Korn Ferry Tour events. He is still actively playing tournaments within the Philadelphia PGA Section, having won the 2023 TaylorMade Classic and finishing in the top seven – including two wins, a second-place and two third-place finishes – in seven of the eighth tournaments on the senior circuit.
"I want to first thank Chrissi and Patty for the opportunity and support to help guide the next generation of Blue Hens," said Post. "I am extremely excited and grateful for this promotion to Head Coach. I have learned a lot from Patty's tutelage and from the great success that we've had on the women's side. I would like to bring those same standards and competitiveness to our men's program. With the great facilities that we are able to use, the fact that we now have two dedicated coaches for the men's team and the great support that we receive from the athletic department the future is very bright and I am very excited to be part of it."
