Comeback Attempt Falls Short as Men’s Basketball Falls to UNCG at Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship

NASSAU, Bahamas – After trailing by 18 points early in the second half, the University of Delaware men's basketball team (5-1) pulled within six with 2:50 seconds left but couldn't overcome the UNC Greensboro (4-1) lead and fell 88-77.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Cavan Reilly led all scorers with a career-high 24 points. The sophomore finished 7-for-12 overall, including 6-for-11 from long range.
Gerald Drumgoole Jr. tallied his most points as a Blue Hen with 22. The graduate student shot 6-for-13 and 7-for-9 at the line.
Jyáre Davis and Jalun Trent each tallied eight points. Davis added six boards and six assists.
Christian Ray had a game-high nine rebounds, also contributing six assists and five points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Spartans held the advantage early with a 12-2 margin over the opening 3:30 before a Hens' timeout. Delaware responded with an 8-1 run to close it to three at 13-10. With a 22-19 score in favor of the Spartans, they ripped off an 8-0 run to widen the gap to 30-19 with 5:33 on the clock. UNCG would go up as many as 15, however the Hens cut it to 12 at the half - 41-29.
An 11-5 advantage for the Spartans put them up 52-36. A 10-4 margin in favor of the Blue Hens pulled the game within six, but they ultimately couldn't overcome the deficit.

GAME NOTES

Delaware's 29 first-half points are the least in a half this season.
The Spartans 47 second-half points are the most surrendered by the Hens this year.
