Whitfield-Moss Named CAA Rookie Of The Week

RICHMOND, Va. - University of Delaware's Gha'Naye Whitfield-Moss was named CAA Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after helping Delaware to a weekend sweep over North Carolina A&T and their 11th consecutive win.Â
Whitfield-Moss recorded 13 kills and hit .385 in six sets. She also anchored the defense with eight blocks and helped hold N.C. A&T to a .041 hitting percentage for the weekend. During Saturday's win, Whitfield-Moss had eight kills and hit .429, then had five kills, hit .333, and recorded seven blocks. Delaware as a team held N.C. A&T to a -.022 hitting percentage on Sunday.Â
Whitfield-Moss has 69 kills and 37 blocks in 40 sets played this season while hitting .279. She has started in 10 of the 11 matches during Delaware's win streak. This is Delaware's fifth CAA weekly award of the season, as Kirah Johnson was also named Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 16 and Asia Murray earned Co-Rookie of the Week honors on August 28 and Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 4. Whitfield-Moss, Abby Reck of Northeastern, and Kalili Doctor of North Carolina A&T are the only CAA athletes to earn Rookie of the Week this season. Whitfield-Moss is the first Delaware player to earn two Rookie of the Week honors in the same season since Ezgi Basaranlar in 2019.Â
Delaware plays their final regular season series this weekend on the road against Elon before the CAA Conference Tournament begins on Nov. 16.Â
