Women’s Basketball Set To Open Three-Game Road Trip Starting With VCU Monday; Temple Thursday

HENRICO, Va. – The University of Delaware women's basketball team heads back on the road as part of its three-game road slate, starting with former conference foes VCU, Monday evening (Dec. 11) inside Henrico Sports & Events Center in Henrico, Va.
After Monday's matchup, the Blue Hens will head over to the City of Brotherly Love and face Temple Thursday evening (Dec. 14) inside Liacouras Center in Philadelphia.
Tipoff for both games are slated for a 7 p.m. start and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

ABOUT THE HENS
- Delaware saw its three-game winning streak snapped Thursday, Dec. 7, to former conference foe Old Dominion 57-54. The loss snapped the five game winning streak over the Monarchs after both teams haven't met in over a decade.
- Sydney Boone led the charge for the Blue Hens scoring a career-best 19 points on very efficient shooting. The Richmond, Va. native shot 70 percent (7-10) from the field and 80 percent (4-5) from beyond the arc.
- Boone also added four rebounds and three steals to her stat line.
- Klarke Sconiers followed behind Boone and finished with her third-career double-double, 10 points and 10 rebounds. She also sent away a season-best four shots away.
- Chloe Wilson chipped in on the defensive end with six rebounds and team-high four steals.
- As of Dec. 9, Wilson holds the 24th spot nationally for free throw attempts with 56, converting 43 of them, securing the 28th rank for successful free throws. Meanwhile, Cousins stands at 33rd place nationally, averaging 2.88 three-pointers per game.
- The last time VCU saw the hardwood was on Tuesday, Dec. 5 when the team welcomed Le Moyne inside Siegel Center. The Rams ran away with the 55-32 home win extending its winning streak to five games.
- VCU leaned on its nationally ranked defense to take a double-digit lead in the second quarter against Le Moyne. It marked the fourth time in nine games this season the Rams held an opponent under 50 points. It marks the second time they've held an opponent under 40 points.
- Mary-Anna Asare scored a team-high 13 points, going 5-8 from the field in just 22 minutes of play.
- Mykel Parham and Sarah Te-Biasu scored seven points each
- Timaya Lewis-Eutsey had six points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
- This will be the 22nd meeting between Delaware and VCU with the Blue Hens holding the 14-7 overall edge. Monday's matchup will be played at a neutral site for the first time. The Blue Hens are currently on a three game winning steak against the Rams.
- The last time time Delaware and VCU met was last season in Newark, where the Blue Hens captured the 13-point victory over the Rams, 63-50.
- Michelle Ojo led the way with a her first-career double-double, with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
- Cousins followed with a season-best 15 points (6-11 FG).
- Sconiers (three rebounds, two blocks) and Nakiyah Mays-Prince (six points, three rebounds) both contributed to the win.

- Delaware's recent action unfolded earlier this week, on Monday (Dec. 11), against VCU, marking their most recent engagement.

- Aleah Nelson made history in the third quarter, becoming only the third Temple women's basketball player in program history, and seventh player in Temple basketball history, to pass for 500 assists.
- Ines Piper led the Owls in scoring with a season-high 16 points, she also grabbed 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
- This will be the 23rd time in program history that Delaware and Temple will face one another with both teams winning 11 games apiece.
- The last time the Blue Hens and the Owls faced one another was during the 2014-15 season where Delaware captured the 69-58 road victory in Philadelphia (Dec. 3, 2014).
- In the last 10 matchups, the Owls have prevailed,victories of the eight games over the Blue Hens.
