Men’s Basketball Holds Off Late Comeback to Defeat Robert Morris

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The University of Delaware men's basketball team held off a late comeback attempt by Robert Morris Monday evening to defeat the Colonials, 73-69. The Blue Hens move to 7-3 overall, while the Colonials fall to 2-8.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Jyáre Davis led UD with 17 points and six assists. He corralled eight rebounds and snagged three steals. The Newark, Delaware native went 6-of-12 overall and 5-of-6 from the line.
Gerald Drumgoole Jr. (15) and Christian Ray (14) also tallied double figure scoring totals.
Ray neared a double-double with a team-high nine boards. He also accounted for four assists and two steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After a back-and-forth start, the Hens rallied off a 12-2 run over 7:02, including eight unanswered to pull up 20-9. The home team answered with a 10-0 spurt over the next 3:09 to make it a one-point game, 20-19 with 7:54 on the clock. A 9-2 advantage for the Blue & Gold pushed the margin to 29-21. The teams would split the final 18 points of the half with Delaware holding RMU scoreless over the final 1:36 for a 38-30 UD lead.
The second half started with an even fight as the first 16 points were split evenly. Robert Morris pulled within two at 51-49 with 9:20 on the clock. The Hens ran ahead with a 9-2 run over 6:39 to pull ahead 60-51, before the Colonials scored five unanswered to make it a four-point game, 60-56. The home team made it a one-possession game on multiple occasions, but would not tie or take the lead.
