ELMONT, N.Y. – Jyáre Davis poured in a season-high 26 points as the University of Delaware men's basketball defense tallied a season best in points allowed as the Blue Hens defeated Rhode Island 67-56 Saturday evening. The Hens move to 8-3 on the season, while Rhode Island slips to 5-6.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Davis shot 10-for-15 overall, including 3-for-5 from downtown. He added three boards, three steals, and two blocks to his line.
Jalun Trent was the only other Hen in double figures. He recorded 12 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
UD forced 20 Rhody' turnovers, which led to 19 points.
Delaware snagged 12 offensive rebounds to land an additional 13 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

A balanced game saw the Hens with a 9-8 lead at the first break with 13:26 left in the opening half. Rhody pulled up 24-20 with 6:41 remaining, before UD ripped off 15-unanswered points before a late Ram' basket to hold a 35-26 advantage at the break. URI would score just two points over the final 6:26.
After trading most baskets over the opening 10 minutes of the second frame, a 7-1 Rhody run over 1:51 cut it to eight points at 51-43. The Hens pushed the lead back to double figures with an 8-3 advantage up to the six-minute mark at 59-46. The lead would drop below double digits once more at 4:41, however the Blue & Gold kept at least a 10-point lead for the final 4:20.

GAME NOTES

Delaware has now beaten an Atlantic 10 opponent in each of the past four seasons.
