Men’s Basketball Heads to Monmouth, Hosts Charleston

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Delaware men's basketball (12-11, 4-6 CAA) has its first-ever CAA matchup against Monmouth (2-20, 1-8) on Thursday and hosts Charleston (21-2, 9-1) on Saturday.

SCOUTING DELAWARE:

After a tough loss at Hampton, Delaware rebounded with its highest-scoring effort of the season, beating Northeastern 81-78.
Jameer Nelson Jr. was held to just five points in the first half before exploding for 16 in the second against Northeastern, adding to his team-leading 19.7 ppg. Nelson has scored 20 or more in six of his last eight games.
Gianmarco Arletti had a game to remember against the Huskies, scoring a season-high 18 points and grabbing a career-high seven boards.
Jyáre Davis is the second leading scorer (16.9) and rebounder (5.5) for the Hens. Davis has scored double digits in all but one game this season but missed the last game against Northeastern.
Cavan Reilly is fresh off the best month of his career, averaging 8.0 ppg during January. He scored 14 points and tied a career-high with five field goals made against Northeastern.

SCOUTING MONMOUTH:

Monmouth earned its first-ever CAA conference victory on Saturday over fellow newcomer North Carolina A&T, 79-64. It was just the second win this season for the Hawks.
Tahron Allen had a career game against the Aggies, setting career marks in points (23) field goals (8) and field goal attempts (15).
Myles Foster is the leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 12.1 ppg and 8.5 rpg.
Jack Collins scored 16 against NC A&T and is second on the Hawks at 9.7 ppg.
Opponents are outscoring Monmouth by nearly 19 points per game this season.

SCOUTING CHARLESTON:

Charleston had its 20-game winning streak snapped at the hands of Hofstra, falling 85-79 at home.
The Cougars fell out of the AP Top 25 after the loss, but still received votes in this week's poll. Charleston will play Drexel before Delaware.
Dalton Bolon leads the way with 13.0 ppg and has grabbed 4.6 rpg this season.
Ante Brzovic scored 18 against Hofstra and is averaging 11.0 ppg and 5.3 rpg.
Ryan Larson scored 12 in the last matchup against Delaware and is averaging 10.7 ppg and 3.4 rpg.

MATCHUP HISTORIES:

Delaware is 3-5 against Monmouth all-time but has not played the Hawks since 1994.
Delaware's last win in West Long Branch came in 1991.
Delaware is 8-11 all-time against Charleston after a loss to them earlier this year.
The Cougars have been a thorn in the side of Martin Ingelsby, holding an 11-3 edge against the Hens during his tenure.
