Men’s Tennis Adds Two Signees

NEWARK, Del. – Delaware Director of Tennis Pablo Montana has announced the signings of Javier Ruiz and Nikolaj Talimaa on the men's team for the fall of 2023 after wrapping up the season at their current institutions.
Ruiz will join the Blue Hens after four years at Utah State, where he was a consistent presence in the Aggies' doubles lineup.
"I'm very excited that Javier is joining our team next season as he brings a lot of experience and wisdom to the table," Montana said.
After recording six doubles wins in the fall portion of the 2021-22 season, which tied him for 19th among single-season annals, Ruiz moved into ninth in program history for total fall doubles wins with 11. This performance earned him a spot on the All-Mountain West Doubles team.
Talimaa will come to Newark after a great career at the University of Indianapolis. While with the Greyhounds during the 2021-22 season, Talimaa finished the year 23-4 in singles primarily in the No. 2 slot en route to an All-GLVC First Team nod.
"Nikolaj has had a great career in division II as one of the top players in the country, and he will surely making an immediate impact on our program next season," Montana said.
On the doubles side, Talimaa went 18-6 in doubles play for the Greyhounds. He finished the season ranked No. 22 nationally in singles and picked up a win versus the No. 36 player in the first round of the NCAA Championships.
