Scheivert Earns Second-Straight CAA Rookie of the Week Honor

NEWARK, Del. – For the second-straight week, University of Delaware freshman Katie Scheivert has been named the CAA Rookie of the Week. The award recognizes her efforts in UD's four games over the weekend at the Carolina Classic.
Scheivert batted .556 with a .636 on-base percentage and two stolen bases over four games for Delaware this weekend. The Leesburg, Virginia native hit safely in all four games, concluding the weekend with a 2-for-2 performance, also drawing a walk and stealing two bases against George Washington. Scheivert has recorded a hit in seven of her first nine career games, and Sunday was her third multi-hit effort.
Delaware will return to action next weekend when it travels to North Carolina for the UNCG Invitational. The Blue Hens will take on Indiana, UNCG and UConn on Friday and Saturday before playing in a playoff-format semifinal and championship.
