Softball Drops Series Finale at Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The University of Delaware softball team fell in the series finale, 9-0, at the College of Charleston on Sunday morning. With the loss, Delaware moves to 8-12 overall and 1-2 in CAA play.
Charleston got all the scoring it needed in the bottom of the first inning, scoring six runs on just two hits while taking advantage of three hit batters, two walks, a wild pitch and a passed ball.
The Cougars hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth to seal the run-rule victory.
Julz Garber had Delaware's only hit while Kiara Mills and Brittney Mendoza each drew a walk.
After playing its first 20 games of the season on the road, the Blue Hens will return home to Delaware Softball Stadium on Wednesday for the 2023 home opener. UD will host Saint Joseph's on Wednesday afternoon for a 3 p.m. contest in the first of nine-consecutive home games.
