Gillin Named CAA Defensive Player Of The Week

RICHMOND, Va. - Riley Gillin of Delaware's women's lacrosse team was named CAA Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday, April 10.
Gillin recorded career-highs in ground balls with four and caused turnovers with three, while also tallying a goal and an assist in Delaware's 13-10 road victory over Hofstra. Gillin's day was highlighted by her game-tying goal in the third quarter, where she forced a turnover on an errant pass and was able to beat the Hofstra keeper to knot the game up at six. Gillin's goal was the second during Delaware's 6-0 run during the period, which helped the Blue Hens outscore Hofstra 7-1 during the third to turn a 5-3 halftime deficit into a 10-6 lead heading into the final quarter.Â
Gillin has six goals and 13 assists this season to go with eight ground balls and six caused turnovers. She is the second player this season to be named CAA Defensive Player of the Week, joining Madison Hranicka on March 27. Gillin and Delaware are back in action on April 15 for a big matchup against Drexel at noon.Â
