Five Tennis Student-Athletes Named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District

NEWARK, Del. – A total of five Delaware men's and women's tennis student-athletes have been named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District, the organization announced. Eliza Askarova, Julieta Honrubia, and Isabella Montana represent the women's team, while Daniel Krulig and James Wilkinson on the men's side.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution and have competed in at least 50% of matches the team played.
Askarova has a 3.51 GPA and posted her best season in 2022-23. She set the single season record for doubles wins (32), single season doubles record for wins as a pair (29-2) and will compete at the NCAA Tournament later this month.
One half of the first ever Blue Hens to garner an ITA national ranking, Askarova and teammate Adel-Byanu Abidullina claimed the ITA Atlantic Regional Doubles Championship, finishing the fall season in the national quarterfinals.
All-time, she is fourth in doubles wins (69), t-11th in singles wins (61), and 11th in singles matches played (87).
Honrubia bolsters an impressive 3.83 GPA as a mechanical engineering major. She holds the single season record for singles matches played (37) and has a 45-23 career singles record, 45-16 doubles record.
Montana posts a 3.73 GPA with a 48-28 career singles record and 51-19 doubles record.
Krulig has a 47-38 career singles record, and 37-29 career doubles record over his career at both Denver and Delaware. He graduated with a 3.6 GPA at Denver and has a 3.83 GPA in the MBA program.
A three-time team captain, Wilkinson holds the program record for singles matches played in a season at 35. He is second in most singles wins in a season (24), fifth all-time in singles wins (63), second all-time in singles matches played (111), and second all-time in doubles wins (65). Wilkinson holds a 3.72 GPA.
