Hranicka Named To IWLCA Mid-Atlantic Region Team

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - Madison Hranicka was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic All-Region Team, as announced on May 11, 2023. The IWLCA honors 128 student-athletes in Division I, and Hranicka is now eligible to be selected as an All-American, announced on May 25.Â
Hranicka was named CAA Defensive Player of the Year, the second in program history, and was a First-Team All-Conference selection, and was also named to the CAA All-Tournament Team. She earned three CAA Defensive Player of the Week honors throughout the year, the most in a season in program history. Hranicka finished with a program-record 50 caused turnovers, third most in the NCAA, and career best 43 ground balls. She became the fourth player in CAA history to have at least 50 caused turnovers. She is one of four players with at least six caused turnovers in a game this season. Against Drexel on April 15, became the third player in program history with at least seven caused turnovers in a game, and is the only CAA player this season with seven caused turnovers and six ground balls in a game. For her career, she is one of two players in program history with multiple games of at least six caused turnovers, and is the only player in program history with three games of at least five caused turnovers in a single season. Hranicka is the first Delaware player to earn All-Region honors since Taylor Carpentier and Chantae Simms in 2018, and the first to earn First-Team since Erin Wein in 2016.
