Baseball’s Bats Fall Silent in CAA Tournament Loss to UNCW

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – Delaware baseball (30-28) recorded seven hits, but did not score any runs as it fell to #1 UNCW (32-21) 3-0 on Thursday.
In the first inning, Joey Loynd recorded his 200th career hit on a single to left field.
Delaware loaded the bases in the top of the third, but did not score.
Nate Rolka and UNCW's Jacob Shafer were in a pitcher's duel for the majority of their outings. However, UNCW got on the board first with a sacrifice fly.
The Seahawks added two more runs in the sixth inning.
Delaware had another opportunity in the seventh, but on an Aidan Kane single, Andrew Amato was thrown out at third to end the threat.
Tyler Strechay relieved Rolka, firing 2.1 hitless innings in relief.
Delaware went down quietly in the late innings, losing 3-0. Loynd was on base three times in the loss.
The Hens will meet Charleston for the fifth time this season with first pitch slated for 9:00 a.m. on Friday.
