Freeman Named CAA Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Redshirt senior shortstop JJ Freeman was named CAA Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

In Delaware's 3-1 week, Freeman recorded multiple hits in three of the four games, homering in three of the four and recording multiple RBIs in three of the four as well.

Freeman batted 7-for-16 (.438) with three home runs and ten RBIs overall, recording two hits in each of the first three games, and his five-game multi-hit streak was snapped on Sunday.

He drove in four runs on Wednesday against no. 23 Maryland and hit a grand slam in the sixth inning on Friday to put the Blue Hens in front for good against Stony Brook. He followed that up with a two-run shot on Saturday to extend Delaware's slim lead.

Freeman now has a ten-game hitting streak and is batting .343 on the season. He becomes the fourth Delaware player to be named CAA Player of the Week this season, joining Joey Loynd (Feb. 27), Dan Covino (Apr. 3) and Tyler Leach (Apr. 17).
