Men’s Soccer Adds Eight Freshmen to Roster

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware men's soccer team has added eight freshmen to the roster, head coach Tommy McMenemy announced Thursday.
"Our staff is extremely excited to welcome this group of young men to the University of Delaware," McMenemy said. "Each of them will positively impact our returning squad by adding quality and competition in their respective positions. Most importantly, this group embodies our program's core values and will collectively help to drive our culture forward. They are humble, competitive, and proud to represent UD on the field and in the classroom. I am thankful to our entire staff with special mention to our recruiting coordinator, Justin Makar, for working tirelessly to build such an exciting class."
Luke Chatten | Midfielder | Haddon Township, N.J. | Haddon Township
Chatten joins the Hens from Sporting Delaware, with whom he has trained since 2021. He attended Haddon Township high school, where he enjoyed a decorated career, including being named USCA New Jersey State Player of the Year and holds the single-season record for goals, assists and points. Chatten was also a member of the ECNL All-Conference Second Team with Sporting Delaware.
Thaddeus Glasser | Defender | Camden, Del. | Caesar Rodney
Glasser stays in his home state and joins the Hens from Sporting Delaware. Attending Caesar Rodney, Glasser was a two-time Regional All-American, two-time All-State Top XI, and two-time First Team All-Conference. Glasser was also a member of the ECNL All-Conference Second Team with Sporting Delaware.
T.J. Hastings | Defender | Middletown, Del. | Appoquinimink
Hastings joins the Hens from Sporting Delaware. Hastings attended Appoquinimink, where he was the Conference Player of the Year in 2022, recording 21 goals during his high school career. While with Sporting, Hastings was named captain from 2021-23 and was the 2021 Northeast ECNL Player of the Year. Last month, he was named the Delaware Gatorade Player of the Year.
Richard Monath | Midfielder | Essex, Md. | Calvert Hall
Monath joins the Hens from Calvert Hall in Maryland, where he was a two-time MIAA Champion as a member of the Cardinals. The attacking midfielder scored the clinching goal in consecutive years to win the state championship game. He also enjoyed a decorated club career at Pipeline SC.
Joshua Rippon | Defender | Cwmbran, Wales | St. Albans Roman Catholic
Rippon joins the Hens from Cwmbran, Wales. While at St. Albans Roman Catholic School, Rippon was a Welsh Cup quarterfinalist twice and a Junior Cup winner twice. At the club level, he spent six years as captain of Cardiff City's prestigious academy.
Jan Schroeder | Defender | Wölfersheim, Germany | Carl-von-Weinberg-Schule
Schroeder joins the Hens from Wölfersheim, Germany. The defender spent his high school career at Carl-von-Weinberg-Schule. Jan competed at the highest level of youth soccer representing Germany's Youth National Team and in the UEFA Youth League with Bundesliga U21 team, Eintracht Frankfurt.
Sean Smith | Defender | Robbinsville, N.J. | Robbinsville
Smith, a defender, joins the Hens from Robbinsville High School. Smith was a PA/NJ/NY All-American, First-Team All-State, and the Central NJ Sectional Player of the Year in 2023.
Ethan Williams | Forward | Spring City, Pa. | Owen J. Roberts
Williams joins the Hens from Spring City, Pennsylvania. At Owen J. Roberts, he was a two-time All-First Team player and led his team to the 2022 conference championship. Williams also enjoyed a successful club career at Penn Fusion Soccer Club.
