NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware Director of Golf Patty Post has announced the addition of Charlton Zimmerman to the men's golf coaching staff. Zimmerman joins the Blue Hens after spending the last two years as a graduate assistant coach at South Alabama.
"We are thrilled to have Charlton joining the Blue Hen family," Post said. "His enthusiasm and passion for college golf is contagious. He has wonderful communications skills that will make him connect with the current players, recruits and alumni."
In his two years with Jaguars, the men's golf team won two events and recorded seven top-three finishes including a third-place showing at the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Championship.
Prior to his arrival at South Alabama, Zimmerman served as a non-PGA assistant teaching professional at the Harbor Point (Mich.) Golf Club. In his role with the club, he aided the head professional in practice sessions while creating youth camps in which he worked with individuals at a variety of age and skill levels.
Zimmerman also has served as the assistant general manager at the Bruce Hills (Mich.) Golf Club and as a personal trainer at LA Fitness.
A native of Almont, Michigan, Zimmerman lettered in golf for four years at Roosevelt (Ill.). He was a three-time team captain and also served as the president of the school's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Zimmerman earned his bachelor's degree from Roosevelt in sustainability and environmental science. He also received a master's degree in public administration at Delaware as well as a master's in educational leadership and administration from South Alabama.
"I am super excited to join the Blue Hen family," Zimmerman said. "Patty, Brendon and Jackie are amazing coaches that I look forward to working with and learning from. I have to give special thanks to Patty Post for giving me an opportunity to coach full-time and help the men's program strive for the best in the CAA. The University of Delaware is an amazing institution, with great programs, a great campus and an even better community behind it. I am honored to be here and help the athletic department in any capacity reach its fullest potential."
