NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware field hockey team routed Villanova 8-0 Friday afternoon in the Blue Hens home opener at Rullo Stadium.
COACH'S QUOTE
"Great team effort today," said head coach Rolf van de Kerkhof. "We came out strong from the start resulting in us scoring four beautiful goals to start the 1st quarter and continued this trend by adding another three quality goals the 2nd quarter. A big compliment to our team for securing about a 90% conversion rate of entering the attacking circle and scoring. Great positioning, great vision, and great decision making!"
"The 7-0 score going into the 2nd half allowed us to continue to play up-tempo and expose our younger players to experience and grow their Delaware Hockey understanding and abilities," continued van de Kerkhof. "Lots of good stuff to go around for all. I am very proud of this group for their desire to compete and work together as one team. This team has a lot of potential and as a coaching and support staff we are looking forward to assisting them as we prepare them for Sunday's game versus Columbia."
