NEWARK, Del. - University of Delaware volleyball defeated Campbell in four sets, 16-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-22, in their CAA opener. The match was the first between Delaware and Campbell with Campbell as members of the CAA.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Lani Mason had 14 kills and eight digs.
Savannah Seemans had 12 kills, hit .333, and had six digs.
Kirah Johnson had 11 kills, hit .320, and had two blocks.
Ezgi Basaranlar recorded 30 assists, six digs and three kills.
Eileen Gex had 12 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

FIRST SET

With the score even at six in the first set, Campbell scored six straight points to take a 12-6 lead.
Delaware cut the lead to 13-10 before Campbell pulled away again to take a 21-13 lead and eventually claim set one.
Johnson had three kills in the first set.

SECOND SET

Trailing 6-4 in the second, the Blue Hens scored 12 of the 15 points and went up 16-9, with Johnson recording three kills in the run.
Three kills and an ace by Mason and a kill by Madelyn Grunza upped the lead to 21-12 and helped Delaware win the set, 25-16.
Mason had five kills while Basaranlar had 10 assists in the set.

THIRD SET

The third set featured five ties and two lead changes. Three straight kills by Seemans propelled a 4-0 to take an 11-9 lead, and Delaware used another 4-0 to take control and go up 17-13.
Mason recorded back-to-back kills to finish off a 25-21 set win.
Seemans added five kills in the set.

FOURTH SET

Campbell was able to cut Delawre's 15-11 lead in the fourth down to one. Five straight points by the Blue Hens gave them their largest lead of the set at seven.
Campbell again battled back to cut the lead down to 23-21, but Seemans and Mason recorded the final two kills to give Delaware the win.
Mason had five kills in the set, while Seemans had four.

GAME NOTES

Basaranlar recorded at least 30 assists for the eighth time this season and now has 3,173 total assists for her career.
Johnson has recorded a hitting percentage of at least .300 in eight of nine games this season.
Mason now has 1,254 kills for her career.
