NEWARK, Del. – With four thrilling home games, five challenging away games, and a highly anticipated competitive tournament during the Thanksgiving break in Estero, Fla., the University of Delaware women's basketball team is gearing up for an action-packed season, as head coach Sarah Jenkins eagerly reveals the 2023-24 schedule Thursday afternoon.
Keeping the momentum alive, UD continues its hosting duties on Tuesday, Nov. 14, when Lehigh makes a long-awaited return to the Bob Carpenter Center after almost three decades since the 1993-94 season. This highly anticipated matchup marks the 30th meeting between the two programs, with the Blue Hens boasting a strong 8-3 record at home against the Mountain Hawks.
Embracing the spirit of true road warriors, the Blue Hens will gear up for an exciting journey that will span the better part of three weeks in the early stages of the season. First on the adventurous itinerary, Delaware will pack its bags and set its sights southward for an exhilarating three-game stretch in the picturesque city of Estero, Fla. from Nov. 24-26. The squad will face Florida Gulf Coast to open things up at the highly esteemed 2023 Clean Simple Eats Gulf Coast Showcase inside Hertz Arena. The eight-team tournament field features six squads that competed in postseason play a year ago, including the NCAA national runners up Iowa. Delaware along with Florida Gulf Coast, Kansas State, North Carolina, Purdue Fort Wayne, Vermont and Western Kentucky round out the field.
The Blue & Gold's road adventure continues to the nation's capital to clash with American on Wednesday, Nov. 29. This matchup marks the 20th meeting between the Blue Hens and the Eagles, with Delaware holding a 14-5 all-time record, including a dominant 9-1 performance in the last 10 matchups.
The journey doesn't stop there, as the Blue Hens open the month of December with another challenging road game against Duquesne on Sunday, Dec. 3. However, the excitement reaches new heights as the squad returns to campus on Thursday, Dec. 7, set for a head-to-head showdown against former CAA-foe, Old Dominion. The last time these two teams crossed paths was during the 2012-13 season, where Delaware emerged victorious with a commanding 86-62 home win.

Last season's encounter saw the Blue Hens victorious with a 63-50 triumph on their home court and the team now holds a 14-7 all-time series advantage against the Rams.
The road trip continues to the vibrant city of Philadelphia, where on Thursday, Dec. 14 the Blue Hens will face Temple. This clash promises to be an intense battle as the two teams will meet again after a hiatus since the 2014-15 season, where Delaware secured a 69-58 road win. The Blue Hens returns to the First State on Thursday, Dec. 21 to close out the non-conference road slate against in-state rival Delaware State. The Blue & Gold vies to hoist up the Route 1 Rivalry trophy for the third consecutive year.
